Windfall money

I’m 74, retired teacher, earn $2000/mo. with state retirement + SS.
I have no savings, nothing. Financially illiterate.
Bought a piece of property in Costa Rica some decades ago and I’m selling it.
Will probably get $500,000 + cash and have NO IDEA how to protect it or what I should do with it.

Please help.
