Hello, I have a personal residence with a detached 1 bedroom mother-in-law home I use as a rental. I live in NY and I have a mortgage on the property. I am not married head of houshold. How can I structure this home for asset protection and also most beneficial for taxes. All utilities are included with rent and on my meter so I cant seperate them. I include free internet also for the tennant. What and how can I write off the expenses and utilities?
